The 3GPP 3G UMTS standard has categorised HSDPA UEs or mobile terminals into twelve categories. These different HSDPA categories define the different characteristics including different HSDPA data rates. The HSDPA UE categories have been implemented to enable the network to accommodate the different levels of UE performance. Evolution (LTE), the subject of this book, is a key enabling technology for delivering mobile broadband. UMTS/HSDPA launched in 16 major markets by AT&T. IEEE e standard, the air-interface for Mobile WiMAX, completed and approved.
This book introduces the Vienna Simulator Suite for 3rd-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)-compatible Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) simulators and presents applications to demonstrate their uses for describing, designing, and optimizing wireless cellular LTE-A networks. Part One addresses LTE and LTE-A link level techniques. LTE or Long Term Evolution is the brand name given to the efforts of 3GPP 4th Generation technology development efforts mostly in Europe and UMB (Ultra-Mobile Broadband) is the brand name for similar efforts by 3GPP2 in North America. Figure 1, presents a pictorial depiction of the discussion so far. HSPA+ is an evolution HSPA(HSDPA&HSUPA). It is a 4G technology that allows download at a rate of up to Mbps. 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) LTE is a 4G communication standard that supports HD video streaming, download speed as high as Mbps. E-BOOK EXCERPT. In this book, three different methods are presented to enhance the capacity and coverage area in LTE-A cellular networks. The scope involves the evaluation of the effect of the RN location in terms of capacity and the determination of the optimum location of the relay that provides maximum achievable data rate for users with limited interference at the cell boundaries.
